Fishing Rod

Lyrics:

VERSE ONE

Quickly, changed my course

And headed toward shore

Once I saw the storm

Wind filled the sails

Pulled us in the wrong direction,

So you jumped overboard

PRE-CHORUS

I hadn’t seen you act that way before

I would’ve stayed with you through the storm

Can’t believe I thought that you loved me

I think I altered the reality

CHORUS

Hooked on the fishing rod,

Another fish is caught

And then you throw it back into the ocean

There’s nothing left to say,

My love can be replaced,

So I’ll wait, and wait

For someone else

VERSE TWO

Can’t get you off my mind

Even though I know you’re out there

With somebody else

Night and I’m back at the shore

No one else in sight

What I’m used to

PRE-CHORUS

I dip my foot into the water

And I’m reminded of the times we shared

Catch and release until you find a keeper

Guess I wasn’t the one you were after

CHORUS

Hooked on the fishing rod,

Another fish is caught

And then you throw it back into the ocean

There’s nothing left to say,

My love can be replaced,

So I’ll wait, and wait

BRIDGE

I almost turned around and the made pain last longer

I almost made a sound that said I still want ya

But I don’t

No, I don’t

I don’t

I don’t

OUTRO CHORUS

Hooked on the fishing rod

I was already caught

But then you flipped the script on what I thought we were

Nothing could make you stay

I should’ve seen the change

Before you threw me back into the water

Hudson Prymak is a seventeen-year-old singer/songwriter from Northern Virginia. Hudson is currently a junior at Interlochen Arts Academy as a popular singer/songwriter major. His sound is a mix of the R&B, Pop, Alternative, and Indie genres. Hudson’s musical influences include Lizzy McAlpine, Rex Orange County, Stevie Wonder, FINNEAS, and Ryan Beatty. This past year, he had the honor of going on a songwriting tour in the Midwest with his songwriting teacher from Interlochen, Joshua Davis. “Fishing Rod” is a song that encapsulates the feeling of being led on and almost making it worse by staying attached to the person. Songwriting has been an outlet for Hudson to express his emotions, but he’s happiest when he is able to create something that others can relate to and be in tune with their emotions.
